Windows 7 locks up when attempting to update the IEEE 1394 Host Controller. Double-click IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers. Select the 1394. Update Driver Software window with 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy) selected. Use the links on this page to download the latest version of OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller drivers. All drivers available for download have been scanned by antivirus program. Oct 7, 2018 - I did a fresh install yesterday (was using Windows 10) and the driver is missing. An easy fix since the driver is supposed to be present in a Windows 7 install in the first place. Look down the list for IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers and Double Click on it. Once it installs the 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy).
Then I am getting the driver from the Pointgrey folder. When I click next it tells me 'the folder doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows 32 bit systems.
According to pointgrey I do have the 32 bit version of their software installed. They remoted in and tried a bunch of things but couldn't figure it out. In the end they said I needed to get a Firewire PCIe card that had a LSI chipset instead of a VIA chipset. Does this sound right? Why would this make a difference in installing a driver.
I am running Windows 7, 64 bit
Any help would be appreciated before I go buy this PCIe card.
Jeremiah
Thanks

For Windows 7 simply replace the new 1394 driver with the Legacy driver that comes with Windows 7. Look down the list for IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers and Double Click on it. It can cause Windows 7 to switch back to use the original 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller driver. If you notice the FireWire device is transferring slowly. Aug 21, 2018 - 1- Click the Start Button, type devmgmt.msc in the “Start Search” box and press Enter. 2- Expand the 'IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers' node in.
